Is residential dog training a good idea?

Absolutely. Residential training gives your dog something that can be difficult to achieve through occasional lessons alone: consistency.

Instead of practising once a week, your dog works with their trainer throughout the day in short, focused sessions, allowing us to reinforce good choices, build new habits and make meaningful progress across a concentrated period of time.

We regularly help with lead walking, recall, general obedience, jumping up, impulse control, confidence, reactivity, resource guarding and other challenging behaviours. Every dog is treated as an individual, and your trainer will tailor their approach around your dog’s personality, behaviour and training goals.

Most importantly, we don’t simply train your dog and send them home. Every course finishes with a detailed handover lesson so you understand exactly what your dog has learned and how to continue their progress at home, with ongoing support afterwards.

Is it good to send your dog away for training?

Residential training can be an incredibly positive and rewarding experience for both dog and owner.

Your dog stays in fully licensed kennel facilities and enjoys a structured routine combining focused training sessions, daily walks, enrichment, socialisation where appropriate, rest and plenty of individual attention from our team.

Training is positive, engaging and tailored to your dog, and we’ll keep you involved throughout their stay with regular photo and video updates so you can follow their progress.

It isn’t simply about sending your dog away to be “fixed”. It’s about giving them a dedicated period of consistent training, then teaching you how to carry that progress into everyday life when they come home.

Can a dog be trained in 2 weeks?

Two weeks (our Standard course: 10 training days in a 12-day stay) is enough to make solid progress on up to four behaviours, such as lead walking, recall around distractions or on-lead reactivity. Whether it sticks depends on you carrying on at home, which is what the handover lesson and written training plan are for.

Can residential training fix reactivity?

Reactivity can be greatly reduced. On-lead reactivity is covered from the Standard course. For dog reactivity, resource guarding and aggressive on-lead reactivity we recommend the 15-day Advanced course; for people reactivity and dog aggression, the 20-day Reactivity course gives our trainers the best chance of success. We will always be honest about what is realistic for your dog.

Do you use positive training methods?

Yes. Our training is positive and results-based, in a fun, engaging environment, which means we not only get results but have great fun doing so.

Can you train puppies?

Yes. Puppy training is part of our Standard course. Your puppy must be vaccinated before any kennel stay, so tell us their age when you enquire and we will advise on timing.

How much does your course cost?

Our intensive training courses start at £745 per week, fully inclusive. A non-refundable deposit is taken at the point of booking to secure your dates. These fees are a one off and include our lifetime of support.

How long is the course?

The course is flexible in length, with a minimum stay of 5 days. Dogs often stay longer; it depends on what training level you are looking to achieve. Our four courses cover 5, 10, 15 or 20 training days.

Where is your training centre?

We have training centres in Southampton, Oxfordshire and South London, and our head office is in Bournemouth. Contact the office with your postcode and we will find your closest training kennels with availability for your selected dates.

What happens if I need to cancel?

The deposit is non-refundable. Cancel 14 days or more before your start date and there are no further fees. Within 14 days, 50% of the programme fee remains payable; within 72 hours, or if your dog does not arrive, the full fee remains payable.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Yes. In line with UK law, any dog staying at a kennels must be checked in with proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Please bring your dog’s vaccination record: without it, we cannot accept your dog onto the course.

What happens when I drop my dog off?

You meet your trainer to go through your requirements in full detail, provide proof of vaccination, sign the check-in documentation and pay the balance of the course fee.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

We provide everything from leads and collars through to beds. We suggest you bring your own food so your dog experiences no change in their routine. If your dog is on a special diet, medication or supplements, bring enough to cover the stay, and please do not forget the vaccination records: we cannot book your dog in without them.

What does a training day look like?

Three to five training sessions lasting anything from 15 to 40 minutes, depending on your dog’s focus, plus two walks, socialisation and enrichment, and lots of treats and cuddles from our team.

Can I check on how my dog is settling mid-course?

Of course. You will have your trainer’s direct contact details for updates throughout your dog’s stay, and they send pictures and videos of training and play.

What happens when I collect my dog?

Your trainer meets you and briefs you on everything your dog has learned. You are then taken to the training fields so your dog can show off their new skills. After that it is your turn to take the lead: with your trainer’s support you learn how to continue the good work at home, in an hour-long one-to-one lesson. You also take home a full training plan.

Do I really get a lifetime of training and support?

Quite simply, yes. Any dog that has attended one of our residential courses is entitled to a lifetime of free support from our team. After a 5-day stay that is digital support by email or phone; after 10 days or more it includes one-to-one sessions back at the facility with your trainer. Compare that with a few sessions with a local trainer.
