Why South London dogs need something specific
Real world residential training for South London dogs
Our South London trainers, like every trainer across My Dog’s Trainer, are trained to work with a broad range of breeds, behaviours and training needs. However, the dogs we see most frequently here tend to bring challenges that come with busy, highly stimulating environments.
Close encounters with other dogs, busy pavements, traffic, visitors, communal spaces and constant distractions can be particularly difficult for nervous, reactive and high drive dogs. Our training therefore often focuses on building calm, controlled behaviour in the situations owners encounter every day.
We work on engagement, loose lead walking and impulse control alongside reactivity and more challenging behaviours. For nervous dogs, confidence is built progressively and at the individual dog’s pace. For high drive and reactive dogs, we develop greater focus and self control around distractions, before showing owners how to maintain those expectations and continue their dog’s progress at home.
What we work on most here
- Reactivity around dogs and everyday distractions
- Confidence building for nervous dogs
- Impulse control for high drive breeds
- Loose lead walking and calm everyday behaviour

South London questions
Residential dog training in South London: FAQs
Straight answers. Anything else, ask us in the booking form.
Where is your South London training centre?
Our South London centre is a fully licensed kennel facility in the south of the capital. We share the exact address and drop-off details when you book. Call 0203 924 0962 with your postcode and we will confirm availability for your dates.
Do you cover Surrey?
Yes. Owners in north and east Surrey, including Epsom, Reigate, Redhill and Kingston upon Thames, often find South London is their nearest centre. Call the office and we will confirm the closest centre with space on your dates.
Can you help a dog that is reactive on busy streets?
Yes. On-lead reactivity is covered from our Standard course. For dog reactivity and aggressive on-lead reactivity we usually recommend the 15-day Advanced course, and for people reactivity and dog aggression the 20-day Reactivity course. We will be honest about what is realistic for your dog.
How much does residential dog training cost in London?
The same as at all our centres: from £745 per week, fully inclusive, with a non-refundable deposit to secure your dates.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. In line with UK law, any dog staying at a kennels must be checked in with proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Please bring your dog’s vaccination record: without it, we cannot accept your dog onto the course.
Do I really get a lifetime of training and support?
Quite simply, yes. Any dog that has attended one of our residential courses is entitled to a lifetime of free support from our team. After a 5-day stay that is digital support by email or phone; after 10 days or more it includes one-to-one sessions back at the facility with your trainer. Compare that with a few sessions with a local trainer.
